New Life Cycle of Penghu Marine Waste
Public Seating Made from Marine Waste Materials
“Can the continuously collected and recycled marine debris form a new connection with Penghu residents and their living environment?” The Penghu Management Office initiated the Penghu Marine Waste Reuse Project, viewing local visitor centers as the first experimental field. Seats made from Penghu marine waste replace the previously regularly purchased and updated chairs. The NAKNAK team is responsible for seat design, project planning, and execution, creating the first complete marine waste recycling system in Penghu.
Discarded styrofoam collected from local beach cleanups is processed and transformed into seats for the Houliou Visitor Center and Qitou Visitor Center, returning to Penghu in a new form to accompany residents and visitors in their daily lives. Besides the first application of marine waste materials and the completion of the seating production, we hope this process will be widely adopted in the future, allowing marine waste to return to the local life cycle in various forms and appearances.
